Field guide
Troubleshoot before the truck rolls.
These steps do not replace a technician. They keep food safer, stop some leaks from spreading, and give us a cleaner first call.
Built-in refrigerator or freezer is warm
- Read an appliance thermometer. Do not guess from the door.
- Confirm power: interior light, breaker, and that the unit is not on Sabbath/showroom mode if your panel has that setting.
- Keep doors closed except to move high-risk food.
- Photograph any alarm, bell icon, or code.
- Note how long the box has been off-temperature.
Food-safety temperatures: see the USDA-cited checklist.
Water on the floor
- If you can do so safely, shut the ice-maker or water valve behind or under the unit.
- Do not pull a built-in column by the panel. Protect finished floors first.
- Photograph the leak path and any ice-maker fault.
Range will not ignite or oven will not heat
- Confirm the correct fuel (gas valve position / breaker for electric).
- Do not keep clicking a gas igniter for long stretches.
- Note whether cooktop, oven, or both failed, plus any control-board flash pattern.
Dishwasher leak, drain, or dirty dishes
- Cancel the cycle if water is escaping.
- Check the air gap / disposal knockout only if you already know that setup.
- Panel-ready units can hide leaks — look at the toe-kick and adjacent cabinets.
When to skip DIY and call
Sealed-system work, refrigerant, live electrical behind a built-in, or a unit that is still under factory warranty. Warranty work belongs with the selling dealer or the brand network. Coastal Premier is independent.
